About the Foundation of the National Student Nurses' Association
The Foundation of the National Student Nurses' Association (FNSNA) was created in 1969 to honor Frances Tompkins, the Association's first Executive Director. Organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, the Foundation awards scholarships to qualified nursing students. Contributions to the FNSNA are tax-deductible. Since 1974, the FNSNA has awarded over $2 million dollars in scholarships to undergraduate nursing students.
The FNSNA also administers the Promise of Nursing program which supports undergraduate students pursuing their RN licensure; RN's pursuing a career in nursing education; and schools of nursing wishing to increase their capacity.
About the National Student Nurses' Association
Founded in 1952, the NSNA is a nonprofit organization for students enrolled in associate, baccalaureate, diploma, and generic graduate nursing programs. It is dedicated to fostering the professional development of nursing students.
NSNA's mission is to organize, represent and mentor students preparing for initial licensure as registered nurses, as well as those enrolled in baccalaureate completion programs; to convey the standards and ethics of the nursing profession; to promote development of the skills that students will need as responsible and accountable members of the nursing profession; to convey the standards and ethics of the nursing profession; to advocate for high quality health care; and to advocate for and contribute to advances in nursing education.
