Respiratory therapist Ronnell Balagot has touched many lives - many of them adolescents and young adult patients born with Cystic Fibrosis. Ronnell has been with Medical Staffing Network for approximately two years, working at St. Joseph's hospital in Orange County, Calif.
Ronnell has known many of his patients for years. He met many of them as they were being treated at Children's Hospital of Orange County. As they grew older, they were transferred to his facility.
For Ronnell, caring goes beyond his regular shift. On his days off, he would build strong connections with his young patients, just talking to them about life and listening to them. Often, these youngsters would request that he conduct their treatment - to be able to look forward to having a friendly, familiar and comforting face.
"I have gone to a lot of funerals," Balagot said. "But it was important for me to be there for them."
Ronnell and the compassion he has demonstrated toward these chronically ill patients embodies the TOUCHlives spirit.
