Honey Beddingfield has come a long way from her BA in music business - she's turned her energies to helping foster young nurses entering the business and helping to re-energize those already in the field.
Upon graduating from college, Beddingfield took a job in pharmaceutical sales - a job that helped change her life. She found she loved the healthcare industry - especially the chance to make a difference in people's lives. Although she was financially comfortable, she wasn't happy with the career path. "That's when I decided to turn in my notice to quit my job and immediately started living on student loans again! I'd do it a thousand times over. Nursing can carry me through my life," she said.
Beddingfield had decided to go back to college for the second time and this time got involved with National Student Nurses Association. In fact she was so heavily involved that her final position with the organization was vice president at the national level. It was a position that allowed her to share her energy at a high level and touch the lives and careers of her fellow nurses.
"It just can't say enough about it. My involvement with the NSNA truly changed the way I thought about nursing. To see all these people passionate about what they do is contagious. There are a lot of nurses who are not involved in the organization and I think if more nurses were involved, you'd see a change in the profession," said Beddingfield.
Beddingfield currently works at the California Pacific Medical Center in the surgical ICU unit.
